Louis Van Amstel
Louis was born in Amsterdam, Netherlands and started dancing at the age of 10 after his family decided it was important for his social skills to learn ballroom dancing. His grandparents were competitive ballroom dancers so it didn't come as a surprise to many that he should follow in their footsteps.
Louis learned to love competitive ballroom dancing because winning competitions gave him confidence, and he realized how competitive he actually was. Dancing gave him the opportunity to express feelings without saying a word and he also experienced it as therapy to deal with many emotional obstacles throughout his childhood.
Louis has coached Tony Dovolani, Karina Smirnoff, Maksim Chmerkovskiy and Val Chmerkovskiy.
Louis has been a Professional on Dancing with the Stars for many seasons.
